This Summer, I received a call from Mindful Magazine, with an opportunity to photograph the August cover featuring the Peace In Schools Executive Director, Caverly Morgan. The magazine is available this month and I want to share with you a bit more about both visionary organizations and people.
Peace In Schools is an organization that is near and dear to my heart. Based in Portland, Oregon, Peace In Schools is the first for-credit high school mindfulness course in the nation. Peace in Schools mindfulness programs help young people develop compassion, calm, emotional resilience, and self-awareness. At a time when school violence is widespread and many teens struggle with feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety, this organization offers a positive alternative.
After attending a personal 5-day silent retreat this past December, led by Peace In Schools Executive Director, Caverly Morgan, I felt deeply inspired to offer my services to the organization. I believe that when we give selflessly and are aligned with our personal values, we create a benefit for all.
As an advocate for mindful living, which to me is being present, compassionate, and connected to our moment by moment experience, I invite you to check out the initiative of both Peace In Schools and the feature article in Mindful Magazine.
