I was born and raised in the desert beneath a 364-day sun, so I’ve bathed in the light,
drank in the heat, and will forever radiate the energy of a perpetually burning star.
Because of this, I give full force to my work and people who I work with.

It has been through the path of creativity, embodiment practices (dance, conscious movement, yoga), relational neuroscience, mindfulness and ancient wisdom practices, where I have discovered my own path of ignited aliveness and inner truth.

I believe that creative expression is a vital part of well-being, where one can awaken their inner wisdom and Soul power.

In addition to an extensive career as a professional photographer, I have been leading and facilitating classes, workshops and retreats designed to ignite creativity, reconnect to one’s Soul and rattle the intuitive, visionary within.

My natural interests and soul-work have led me to spend the past 15+ years studying and diving deep into the healing arts while mentoring 1:1 with some of the foremost thought leaders in conscious movement (including Open Floor international, 5 Rhythms movement), interpersonal neurobiology, creative expression and the path of yoga.

personal Commitment to Anti-Racism

I, Jennifer Alyse am committed to antiracism and social justice in every facet and support Black Lives Matter. To borrow the title of Rhonda V. Magee’s powerful book, I am committed to The Inner Work of Racial Justice, as well as larger structural change. Specific action steps I am taking to dismantle and denounce racism include:

  1. On July 5th, 2020, I pledged to do my part as a small business owner in the Anti-racist small business pledge. See the specific tenets written and generously created by Rachel Rodgers, Ericka Hines, and Sonya Renee Taylor below. The pledge outlines five clearly stated specific practices for any small business. All commitments outlined are their language with my specific actions and commitments attached below:

THE ANTI-RACIST SMALL BUSINESS PLEDGE

Anti-racist: those who speak and act in ways that advance racial equity in society; the act of interrupting racism.

1. Name white supremacy and the impact of racism on both our personal and professional lives. Acknowledge the omni-present existence of white supremacy and how it operates and is supported in your company. Name it in your company values, business operations, discuss it with your employees and discuss it with your business partners, clients and greater community.

2. Engage in anti-racist education for you and your team.Commit money and time to be educated on anti-racism on an ongoing basis for you and your team. This is not a one-time thing. Anti- racism must be active. We recommended taking courses, reading books and participating in a book study, hiring a DEI consultant to come in and offer training to you and your whole team, etc. Active anti-racism learning should take place on a quarterly basis.

3. Commit to open-conflict and allow discomfort. When conflict arises on your team and within your communities, let it arise. Don’t try to hide it, delete it, or ignore it. Acknowledge the conflict, allow space for community members to be heard and deal with the underlying issue rather than demonizing the community member who raised the issue. These conversations are happening regardless, allow them to happen in your spaces and be a part of the conversation. Take action to implement the needs expressed by community members. Train your community moderators on how to have culturally responsive communications and handle conflict online.

4. Invest a portion of your monthly company budget to the Black community. Review your company budget and you will find that your white dollars stay in the white community. Commit to spending a portion of your company budget, we recommend 30%, on hiring Black employees, vendors and contractors, using Black-owned software and services and hiring Black speakers, purchasing Black-authored books and more. Invest in the Black community, not just once, but on an ongoing basis.

5. Express your sincere, long-term commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization.

I, Jennifer Alyse, am personally actively engaged in anti-racist work and dismantling my own internalized racism.
I am engaging in monthly offerings and classes through
equitybydesignusa.com as well as participating in a weekly group study for white folks dedicated to allyship and learning #howtobeantiracist.

Contributing donations and support to organizations that center around black voices and advocate for people of color. Specifically, a percentage of all revenue from Jennifer Alyse Photographer will be donated to Black Lives Matter, blacklivesmatter.com.

With an ongoing commitment to my inner work of racial justice and as a student of life, I recognize I have much more to learn and work to do.
